Chief Carpenter currently serves as the Chief of Police in Park City, Utah and has been in law enforcement for over 35 years, 23 of those as Chief. In 2024, he served as President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and now serves on the IACP Executive Board. Chief Carpenter’s experience, law enforcement involvement, and accomplishments include being the First Vice President and subsequently President of the IACP, two term-President of the Utah Chiefs of Police Association, former Chairman of the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, former Chairman of the Utah State Intelligence Analysis Center, and supervising logistics for the Sundance Film festival and the annual FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup.
