Women Lunch & Learn: The Role of Art in the Holocaust

12:00PM - 1:30PM

Through slides of relevant examples, we will explore how art was intertwined with the Holocaust, both as a tool of the Nazi regime and as a form of resistance and remembrance by the victims. Key topics will include:

  • The important role of propaganda, degenerate art, and looted art in the Nazi regime.
  • Artwork created by inmates of concentration camps and ghetto.
  • Memorials and artwork created after WWII that explore the trauma of the Holocaust.
  • The challenges of returning confiscated art to its original owners.

Please bring your lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided.
