Topic: Service Around the World

Retired senior U.S. Diplomat with the Department of State, rank of Minister-Counselor. Over three decades of experience helping to devise and execute U.S. foreign policy in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Prior to retirement, last assignment was as deputy Ambassador in New Zealand. Other overseas postings include Jordan, Singapore, Belgium, Ethiopia, USSR/Russia, Indonesia, and Equatorial Guinea. Domestic assignments in Washington DC were in the Bureaus of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, European and Eurasian Affairs, and African Affairs. Recipient of numerous State Department honors and awards.

Service on school boards at International and American schools in Ethiopia and Jordan.

B.A. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary in Virginia; Master’s in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.

Born and raised in the Philippines with American family roots there dating back to 1900.

Retired from the Department of State and moved to Park City, Utah in 2019 to be near family. Elected President of the Newcomers Club of the Greater Park City area in June 2022. Elected Secretary of the Friends of the Summit County Library in November 2022. Moderator for Great Decisions Discussion Group at Kimball Junction Branch Library in 2022 and 2023.
